Review: Little learner, big possibilities

Review ASG Little Learner PackConfidence, resilience and persistence are considered key foundations for children as they prepare themselves for school. They are also some of the main ideas behind ASG’s Little Learner Pack.

I was lucky enough to be given one of these family educational packs to road test recently. It was perfect timing with Miss 5 starting school this year, so we got to use the pack in the weeks leading up to the start of term.

Features of the pack include:

  • The Cat in the Hat DVD (education edition)
  • You Can Do It! Education story book set
  • Membership to MY ASG members website, featuring a wide range of educational resources for parents
  • Special discount offer to join Michael Grose’s Parenting Ideas Club (additional cost).

ASG Little Learner Pack BookThe pack features five hardcover books from the You Can Do It! Education series covering topics such as confidence, resilience, persistence, getting along and organisation.

I found the topics perfect for my daughter given that she was starting school this year, but I’m sure they will be books we will return to again and again, particularly if any issues crop up during the year.

Miss 5 enjoyed the books and while the Little Learner Pack is aimed at children aged two to six years, I found the tone and wording of these books more suitable for children in kinder or early years of primary school.

I needed to explain some of the concepts to Miss 5 as we read through the books, but that gave us a great chance to personalise the moral behind the books and also offered some great bonding time.

Overall, it is a great series of books that my daughter really seemed to enjoy.

ASG Little Learner Pack DVDThe Cat in the Hat DVD was a big hit with my daughter and had to be our favourite item of the pack. She loves Dr Seuss books, so when we sat down with the idea of watching just one episode, we actually ended up viewing them all in just one session!

The four episodes are fun but also educational with a catchy intro song that my daughter loved to sing along to. The DVD covers topics such as the special role that bees play in the environment, why birds migrate, nocturnal animals and how hermit crabs live in shells.

The DVD would interest all ages that the Little Learner Pack aims to support.

Overall, the ASG Little Learner Pack offers a great collection of educational materials for young children and their parents that are both fun and entertaining.

  1. I really love our ASG Little Learner Pack! My boys are loving the stories. I love how it’s just challenging enough for them to ask questions and learn something new about feelings and emotions.
