Time to reduce the overwhelm, clutter and digital distraction

Reducing overwhelm clutter and digital distraction - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

As we head into the later part of the year, I always find life gets a little more hectic, or dare I even say, busy.

There just seems to be the constant feeling of unfinished business, although sometimes I’m not exactly sure what it is.

I’m often unable to totally switch off because of a niggling feeling that there is something else I need to do, if only I could put my finger on exactly what that something is.

My planner is exploding with appointments, to do lists and wish lists. The end of my kitchen bench is full of papers from school, the latest supermarket catalogue for this week’s meal planning inspiration as well as anything else that needs to be taken care of.

Last week, with my mind, my planner and my kitchen bench feeling in complete disarray, I decided it was time to reduce the overwhelm.

Living loving making baking | Losing momentum, finding clarity

Living Loving Making Baking September 2017 - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

I have to admit that my blogging has been somewhat lacklustre and inconsistent of late.

There has been a lot going on and some days I honestly feel as though I have lost my blogging ‘mojo’. In fact, when my website hosting fees were up for renewal last month, I really started questioning what I planned to do (I’m still here so I guess you already know my decision).

I have been taking more ‘breaks’ from blogging than I would like to. While my aim is to have a new post on the blog each week on Tuesday, this hasn’t been the case lately.

But I’ve realised that these things happen for a reason and giving myself some time to focus on other things in my world also provides me with some clarity. Giving myself time and the permission to find ‘me’ again means the pressure is off and often in turn the creative juices start flowing and my writing starts coming more easily again.

Sometimes I just put pen to paper and let it all out when the thoughts strike and, although sometimes those posts never make it to the screen, it’s still good to let it all out. Because that is what writing does for me.

I’d love to be able to commit more time to this blog, both for me and my readers, but I know that that time still lies ahead and I’ll get there, eventually.

Today I’m continuing my series – Living Loving Making Baking. I’ve had some positive feedback that people enjoy the links to recipes, books and craft projects so I plan to continue giving you a monthly update on what I have been up to lately – things I’m loving, what I’m currently reading or watching, sewing and crochet projects, yummy baking and dinner recipes I have come across and so on.

Here’s what’s happening in my world right now:

Back to school 2017 with Smash + Tips for choosing the right lunch box

Back to school with Smash - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

* In conjunction with Smash

Finding the right lunch box for your child might sound like a simple task, but in reality it can actually be rather tricky. With so many items on the market these days, it is easy to feel a little overwhelmed when staring at the aisles of possibilities.

From insulated lunch boxes, bento boxes, drink bottles, food and snack containers, ice packs, sandwich cutters, there are so many things to consider.

My family had the opportunity to road test some of Smash’s new back to school range for 2017. My girls and I were super excited to check out what they have on offer – I think I have a slight obsession with collecting lunch box items (along with my addiction to stationery) which I have obviously passed on to my children!
