Living Loving Making Baking Enjoying Now December 17 - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

December is here and so is the madness. While I love this time of year and enjoy the preparations leading up to Christmas and the end of the year, it does at times bring a mild sense of panic.

I feel like so much is always crammed into the last couple of months of the year, that I often need to take a step back and remind myself of what is most important and go with that.

Recently, Miss 8 told me that she wished it was Christmas already and I reminded her not to wish away the time she has now to enjoy the lead up because sometimes that can be just as much fun as the day itself.

It’s something I think I need to tell myself as well as it’s far too easy to get caught up in the gift buying and present giving, jamming our calendars full of catch ups and pre-Christmas appointments. Yes, some of these things need to be done now but others can always wait leaving us more time to enjoy the season that lies ahead without rushing. If you need some more tips you can check out my tips for a stress-free Christmas here.

Today I’m continuing my Living Loving Making Baking series – a place where I share what I have been up to over the past month, things I’m loving, what I’m currently reading or watching, sewing and crochet projects, and yummy baking recipes I have come across.

PS Apologies for missing the November instalment of LLMB.

So here’s what has been happening my way lately.

Living loving making baking | Losing momentum, finding clarity

Living Loving Making Baking September 2017 - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

I have to admit that my blogging has been somewhat lacklustre and inconsistent of late.

There has been a lot going on and some days I honestly feel as though I have lost my blogging ‘mojo’. In fact, when my website hosting fees were up for renewal last month, I really started questioning what I planned to do (I’m still here so I guess you already know my decision).

I have been taking more ‘breaks’ from blogging than I would like to. While my aim is to have a new post on the blog each week on Tuesday, this hasn’t been the case lately.

But I’ve realised that these things happen for a reason and giving myself some time to focus on other things in my world also provides me with some clarity. Giving myself time and the permission to find ‘me’ again means the pressure is off and often in turn the creative juices start flowing and my writing starts coming more easily again.

Sometimes I just put pen to paper and let it all out when the thoughts strike and, although sometimes those posts never make it to the screen, it’s still good to let it all out. Because that is what writing does for me.

I’d love to be able to commit more time to this blog, both for me and my readers, but I know that that time still lies ahead and I’ll get there, eventually.

Today I’m continuing my series – Living Loving Making Baking. I’ve had some positive feedback that people enjoy the links to recipes, books and craft projects so I plan to continue giving you a monthly update on what I have been up to lately – things I’m loving, what I’m currently reading or watching, sewing and crochet projects, yummy baking and dinner recipes I have come across and so on.

Here’s what’s happening in my world right now:

Why I encourage my daughter to listen to Taylor Swift

Thank you Taylor SwiftI have to totally admit that I love the fact that my daughter is totally in love with Taylor Swift and her music.

Of all the pop idols to follow, I’m glad she found one so grounded and who actually represents a good role model for young girls and teenagers.

I had no hesitation in taking my nine-year-old to Taylor Swift’s last two concerts (and I’m sure I will do so again when she returns to Australia next year), as I much prefer her to listen to Taylor than other female singers who belt out excruciating lyrics about getting so intoxicated they can’t remember what they did the night before or brushing teeth with Jack Daniels when they get up in the morning. Not to mention the stage shows that are totally inappropriate for the young audience of which makes up a large amount of their fan base.
