Living loving making baking | Losing momentum, finding clarity

Living Loving Making Baking September 2017 - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

I have to admit that my blogging has been somewhat lacklustre and inconsistent of late.

There has been a lot going on and some days I honestly feel as though I have lost my blogging ‘mojo’. In fact, when my website hosting fees were up for renewal last month, I really started questioning what I planned to do (I’m still here so I guess you already know my decision).

I have been taking more ‘breaks’ from blogging than I would like to. While my aim is to have a new post on the blog each week on Tuesday, this hasn’t been the case lately.

But I’ve realised that these things happen for a reason and giving myself some time to focus on other things in my world also provides me with some clarity. Giving myself time and the permission to find ‘me’ again means the pressure is off and often in turn the creative juices start flowing and my writing starts coming more easily again.

Sometimes I just put pen to paper and let it all out when the thoughts strike and, although sometimes those posts never make it to the screen, it’s still good to let it all out. Because that is what writing does for me.

I’d love to be able to commit more time to this blog, both for me and my readers, but I know that that time still lies ahead and I’ll get there, eventually.

Today I’m continuing my series – Living Loving Making Baking. I’ve had some positive feedback that people enjoy the links to recipes, books and craft projects so I plan to continue giving you a monthly update on what I have been up to lately – things I’m loving, what I’m currently reading or watching, sewing and crochet projects, yummy baking and dinner recipes I have come across and so on.

Here’s what’s happening in my world right now:

Living loving making baking | Looking ahead

Living Loving Making Baking Looking ahead - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

I’ve kind of been freaking myself out over the past week by thinking about all of the things that lay ahead for the year and I need to plan (and pay!) for.

Now that my children’s birthdays are over for the year (Miss 8 celebrated her birthday on the weekend!), I have been looking ahead to the many other things that will need to be organised.

It’s kind of scary but by mapping it all out I hope to spread out the costs and make the whole process a lot simpler and less stressful.

The biggest thing is Miss 12 starting high school next year. It means a whole new uniform, books and stationery, iPad and mobile phone, as she’ll be walking at least part way home.

And, while I really don’t want to say it, Christmas is only a little over four months away! I also hope to manage the costs by buying a few gifts each month so by the time December rolls around it’s all pretty much taken care of. As I said above, simpler and less stressful is my motto.

Let’s hope it all goes to plan. Wish me luck!

Today I’m continuing my new blog series – Living Loving Making Baking. I hope to prepare a monthly post (sorry I missed July but I’m back this month!) giving an update on what I have been up to lately, things I’m loving, what I’m currently reading or watching, sewing and crochet projects, yummy baking recipes I have come across and so on.

So here’s what has been happening…

2016 is here – it’s time to breathe

2016 Breathe - Ever-changing Life of a MumTake a deep breath in, take a deep breath out. The new year is here and there are 366 fabulous days ahead of us (yep, it’s a leap year folks) to make, create and be who you want to be.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m not one for setting new year’s resolutions as all too often they tend to be broken bringing up unwanted feelings of guilt and unhappiness, and seriously who wants or needs that?!

Instead I prefer to set intentions for my year ahead. Intentions that can bubble along and allow for flexibility and movement as the days, weeks, months roll by and with a young family that’s the way it has to be!

This year, I have though decided to set myself a word, something that I can hopefully come back to again and again to re-set myself as I need to.

I’ve tried a few on and the one I keep coming back to is: ‘Breathe’.
