More Elf on the Shelf antics

More elf on the shelf antics

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas which means we’ll soon be re-welcoming a special member into our family for the festive season – our Elf on the Shelf, Jinx.

We put our Christmas tree up on the weekend in readiness for Jinx’s return on 1st December and this will be the third year that he has visited our home.

It’s such a fun annual tradition for all the family. I know my girls are looking forward to our little elf returning for another year, particularly Miss 2 who is really getting into the Christmas spirit, which always makes me smile. Although let’s hope she doesn’t touch the elf!

If you don’t know much about Elf on the Shelf, check out the post I prepared last year to find out more and see a little of what Jinx got up to at our place in the first year he arrived.

Today I am also sharing all of the crazy antics our elf got up to last year to help give others out there a little inspiration!

My favourite children’s books of all time

Favourite children's books - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

In conjunction with Dymocks

Reading has always held a special place in my heart. Not just for the love of stories and the ability to experience a different world, if only in my mind, but also for the memories they bring of loved ones I may have shared a particular book with, special moments in time and even places I have travelled.

I have always loved to read and lucky for me my children seem to enjoy it just as much as I do. Reading a book forms special part of Miss 2’s bedtime routine every evening, with the two of us sharing a book before she gets tucked in for the night, just as I did with my two older girls. Even now, Miss 8 and Miss 12 still enjoy sharing a few pages of their latest chapter book with me before bed.

Living loving making baking | Losing momentum, finding clarity

Living Loving Making Baking September 2017 - Ever-changing Life of a Mum

I have to admit that my blogging has been somewhat lacklustre and inconsistent of late.

There has been a lot going on and some days I honestly feel as though I have lost my blogging ‘mojo’. In fact, when my website hosting fees were up for renewal last month, I really started questioning what I planned to do (I’m still here so I guess you already know my decision).

I have been taking more ‘breaks’ from blogging than I would like to. While my aim is to have a new post on the blog each week on Tuesday, this hasn’t been the case lately.

But I’ve realised that these things happen for a reason and giving myself some time to focus on other things in my world also provides me with some clarity. Giving myself time and the permission to find ‘me’ again means the pressure is off and often in turn the creative juices start flowing and my writing starts coming more easily again.

Sometimes I just put pen to paper and let it all out when the thoughts strike and, although sometimes those posts never make it to the screen, it’s still good to let it all out. Because that is what writing does for me.

I’d love to be able to commit more time to this blog, both for me and my readers, but I know that that time still lies ahead and I’ll get there, eventually.

Today I’m continuing my series – Living Loving Making Baking. I’ve had some positive feedback that people enjoy the links to recipes, books and craft projects so I plan to continue giving you a monthly update on what I have been up to lately – things I’m loving, what I’m currently reading or watching, sewing and crochet projects, yummy baking and dinner recipes I have come across and so on.

Here’s what’s happening in my world right now:
